Start Friday.
Not someday, after college, if it works out. This Friday, at your school, with your name on it. Tennessee Firefly is a real newsroom read in all 95 counties, and Varsity is written by students.
What you actually get
- Your name on a real news site. Not a school blog. The same site that covers the legislature and the state report card.
- Clips you can show a college. A permanent page, a permanent URL, and an author page that collects everything you have filed.
- An editor who reads your work. Someone in the newsroom will actually edit it with you, which is the part that makes you better.
- Your school in the section. Every TSSAA school has a page here with its schedule, record and region race. Yours is already in there.
Who this is for
The kid who already knows every score in the district. Who argues about the playoff picture. Who films their friend's highlights. Who reads the game story before the box score. That is a sports writer, they just have not been paid the compliment yet.
You do not need to be on the school paper. You do not need a journalism class, and it is fine if your school does not have one. You need to go to the games and care about getting it right. We will teach you the rest.
