Hamilton County Schools (HCS) and the Hamilton County Mayor’s Office released new details Monday for the $34 million renovation plan for Soddy Daisy Middle School. ¶
The project is scheduled to begin with a first phase of construction from October 2026 to June 2028, followed by a second phase from June 2028 to August 2029. The district says this phased construction approach will minimize disruption and isn’t expected to impact daily school operations.¶
Among the improvements planned for the school are modernized classrooms and learning spaces, a new gymnasium, and an upgraded cafeteria. The renovated school will serve up to 650 students to address current capacity needs and projected community growth, according to a news release sent to the Tennessee Firefly.¶
“This project is a major investment in our students, educators, and the future of Soddy Daisy,” said HCS Superintendent D. Justin Robertson, HCS Superintendent. “I’m excited to continue moving forward with facilities projects that reflect our belief in the success of our schools and communities. When we create innovative spaces that foster creativity and learning, our students and staff can thrive in environments that support their growth, connection, and readiness for the future.”¶
The initial plan for the school in 2023 called for HCS to build a new Soddy Daisy Middle School on a shared campus with Daisy Elementary and Soddy Daisy High School. Following listening session and community feedback, members of the Hamilton County Board of Education voted to instead renovate the existing building.¶
“Strong schools are the backbone of strong communities,” said Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp. “The county’s investment in Soddy Daisy Middle School will strengthen the K–12 experience in North Hamilton County and pay dividends for decades to come.”¶
