Graduation rates, dropout rates, and Ready Graduate metrics for every Tennessee high school
A Ready Graduate is a student who earns a regular high school diploma and meets at least one of the following criteria: ACT composite of 21 or higher, SAT score of 1060 or higher, completion of four Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSOs), completion of two EPSOs plus a qualifying work-based learning experience, earning an industry certification, or military enlistment. The Ready Graduate metric is Tennessee's primary measure of college and career readiness.
Tennessee uses the four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate, which tracks a group of students who enter ninth grade together and measures the percentage who earn a regular high school diploma within four years. Students who transfer in are added to the cohort; students who transfer out, emigrate, or pass away are removed.
Students who enter ninth grade in the same year form a cohort. Transfers in and out are adjusted accordingly.
Only students earning a regular high school diploma count toward the graduation rate. Special education certificates and GEDs are excluded.
Students must graduate within four years of entering ninth grade to be counted in the on-time graduation rate.
All data comes from the Tennessee Department of Education's annual Report Card, published each fall for the prior school year.
