The Jackson-Madison County School System (JMCSS) announced the launch of a new teacher grant program aimed at supporting innovative teaching methods, professional development opportunities, and classroom resources.The Supporting Teachers' Academic Resources (STAR) initiative will offer teachers the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $1,000 each.Funding for the new program is coming from a $50 thousand allocation from the Madison County Commission and Chair Mike Taylor said the collaboration between the county and school system is important."Our teachers are the backbone of our community's educational system, and it is our responsibility to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed. The STAR Teacher Grant Program is a reflection of our support for the incredible educators who shape the future of our students," said Taylor.District leaders say the STAR Teacher Grant program aligns with the school system's broader commitment to the Triple A effect – Arts, Academics, and Athletics. Superintendent of Schools Marlon King said providing teachers with the financial resources they need will help enhance the overall educational experience for students in Jackson-Madison County."The launch of the STAR Teacher Grant Program marks a new era of collaboration and support between the County Commission and the school system. We recognize the importance of investing in our teachers, as their dedication directly influences the success of our students. This initiative is a testament to our shared commitment to excellence in education," said JMCSS Superintendent of Schools, Marlon King.Educators can apply for the grants when the application process opens on December 1, 2023, through its close on May 1, 2024.¶
