Chattanooga Prep faced a talented Boyd Buchanan squad coming off an impressive 34–0 season-opening victory over Mount Paran Christian. The Buccaneers carried that momentum into Friday’s home matchup against the Sentinels.¶
After a week of long, emotional, and demanding practices, Chattanooga Prep entered the matchup prepared for a battle. However, Boyd Buchanan sophomore quarterback Drew Rivers quickly made his presence felt, throwing for 250 yards and four touchdowns.¶
The Sentinels struggled to slow the Buccaneers’ relentless offensive attack and ultimately fell 33–0.¶
Week One Recap
The Chattanooga Prep Sentinels opened the football season on August 21 against Meigs County and found themselves in a thrilling battle that went down to the wire. Meigs County’s powerful defense struggled to contain the Sentinels’ explosive offense, led by senior running back Cedric Balding and senior receiver Kentrell Watkins. The duo combined for 160 yards and four touchdowns.¶
Despite the offensive firepower, the Sentinels ultimately fell short as Meigs County prevailed, 40–38, in a dramatic four-overtime thriller.¶

Next week, Chattanooga Prep head coach Dean Banks and the Sentinels will look to regroup and put together a new game plan as they travel to Hixson for another Friday Night Lights matchup.¶
