A resurfaced 2019 social media post shows that Margaret Price, now a Democratic candidate for the Tennessee House of Representatives, called images of babies on billboards “a little creepy” before making what appears to be a joke about harvesting human organs in reference to the timeline of an embryo’s development.¶
Price, who describes herself as a mother and worker who will start with “respect and transparency,” is running for House District 83. She won the Democratic nomination without opposition in the Aug. 6 primary and will face incumbent Rep. Mark White, R-Memphis, in the Nov. 3 general election. White chairs the House Education Committee.¶
“Missouri has a lot of billboard babies that come off as pretty judgmental, and a little creepy. ‘Eyes and a Tongue by 28 days,’ etc. Whose eyes are you collecting, baby? And why the deadline? I don’t know where to get eyes that soon!!” Price wrote in a 2019 social media post.¶

Price, who Tennessee Advocates for Planned Parenthood have endorsed, features images of children on her campaign website. Her reference to eyes appears to be a joke about the development of an embryo’s eyes. The Charlotte Lozier Institute says eyes begin forming 22 days after conception, or about five weeks and one day of gestation.¶
Tennessee lawmakers have acted on legislation concerning organ donation and organ harvesting during the 114th General Assembly.¶
The Tennessee Genomic Security and End Organ Harvesting Act, House Bill 395, addresses and combats forced organ harvesting and adds restrictions to genetic sequencing technology and data connected to foreign adversaries.¶
The Living Organ Donor Protection Act, House Bill 427, grants state employees paid medical leave to recover from living organ donations. Rep. White supported both measures, and they have since been signed into law.¶
