POLITICAL AD WATCH

What Tennessee campaigns are spending on Google and YouTube

Google publishes what every political advertiser spends, where, and week by week. This is that data for Tennessee: a spending ledger, updated weekly, with every figure attributed to the table it came from.

WHAT THIS COVERS

Google platforms only, for now

Scope of this page

This page covers advertising bought through Google Search, YouTube, and the Google Display Network. It does not cover Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram), broadcast or cable television, radio, direct mail, or any other advertising Google does not sell.

Meta publishes comparable data, but only through an API that requires credentials we have not obtained. When that access exists, Meta spending will be added here as a second source alongside Google rather than merged into these figures, because the two platforms report on different terms and a combined total would hide that.

A campaign that spends nothing on Google may still be advertising heavily somewhere else. Read the figures below as what they are: one platform’s ledger.

How to read the numbers

Google rounds every figure it publishes to the nearest $100, and it rounds each of its tables separately. The same advertiser can therefore show slightly different totals depending on which table a number is read from, so each figure here names its table. Nothing on this page adds a figure from one table to a figure from another.

Per-ad spending is published only as a range, such as $5,000 to $6,000. Those are shown as ranges. No midpoint is calculated, because Google does not publish one.

Advertisers are matched on Google’s own advertiser id, not on name. One campaign often files under several names, and surname matching pulls in candidates from other states.

BY ADVERTISER

Every advertiser on the watchlist (10)

Ordered by Tennessee spending. An advertiser is on this list when it is a committee in one of Tennessee’s two statewide 2026 races, governor or US Senate, or an outside group advertising in them, and when Google attributes most of its national spending to Tennessee. Every entry here is between 74 and 98 percent Tennessee by that measure. The list is committed to the repository, so an addition or a removal is a reviewable change rather than an editorial decision made invisibly.

Each card says which race the committee belongs to. Committees for an earlier campaign are labelled as such and are never counted toward the current race, which is why the governor table below reports less for a candidate than their cards here add up to.

Committees for individual congressional or legislative districts are not tracked yet. That is a coverage limit, not a finding: several are advertising in Tennessee right now.

US Senate, the other statewide race on the 2026 ballot. 87% of this advertiser's US spend is Tennessee and it was still buying in the week of 2026-08-02, which makes it the largest active Tennessee campaign advertiser in the dataset. It is not a governor-race committee and is labelled so.
