Neely's Bend High School to Open in August

Good morning.

Parents of high school students in Nashville will have a new public charter school option this August. LEAD Neely's Bend, which opened as a middle school in Madison years ago, will enroll its first ninth-grade class.

This week we're talking to the mother of one of those students who tells us this expansion fills a need to keep students like her son in a system that's working.

“There’s no discrimination against Hispanic people here, I never really hear anything about drugs, about fights, anything like that. The teachers work well with the students. They help them to become more responsible, because in the past, Jorge wasn’t really a responsible kid, wasn’t a very responsible person, but he’s a lot more so around the house now as well.”
