The Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to present MNPS Director Dr. Adrienne Battle with a new four-year contract and salary increase.

Schools across the state have been stepping up to provide assistance to flood relief efforts in East Tennessee after flooding from Hurricane Helene left at least 15 people dead and many others homeless throughout the region. 

Wooddale Middle School leaders are taking their appeal to state leaders after Memphis-Shelby County Schools Board of Education members recently voted to deny Wooddale’s amended application to transfer into the district from the state-run Achievement School District.

Recent data from the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission (TPCSC) suggests that more work needs to be done to increase English language arts and math proficiency rates within the charter district. However, officials said, TISA funding has led to improvements in proficiency.

The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has released two investigative reports related to Farragut High School in Knox County Schools System (KCS) after officials there reported “questionable transactions” to the office, a recent news release said.

Following the Rutherford County Schools Board of Education’s recent decision to deny Novus SMART Academy’s application to become the fourth charter school in the district, supporters and educators from the charter school have taken their appeal to the state.

Rutherford County Schools Board of Education officials noted the need for more school nurses in the district at Tuesday’s work session meeting.
