Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS) announced a $3.4 million investment into elevating critical district positions Tuesday.

That investment will provide electricians, HVAC, and plumbers with an average increase of 19 percent, nutrition service staff with an average increase of 6 percent and extended hours and benefits, plant managers with an average increase of 10 percent, and school-based clerical assistants with an average increase of 14 percent and a full twelve months of pay.

“This investment signifies our deep commitment to educational excellence,” said MSCS Superintendent Dr. Marie N. Feagins. “By boosting salaries in these critical areas, we strive to secure and empower professionals who are instrumental in advancing our district’s mission.”

The district is putting this investment to use on Saturday through a hiring blitz occurring from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Teaching and Learning Academy that’s focused on open positions in nutrition and family services.

The district is also holding a hiring blitz for open teaching positions from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Jackson Hilton at 1001 East County Line Rd. in Jackson, Mississippi.
