Alex Green Elementary recognized as Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

The Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence (BRSE) has named Nashville’s Alex Green Design Technology Magnet Elementary School a 2023 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, Beacon School.

Alex Green received the honor following a review of nine categories that measure school organization and culture, technology integration, and indicators of success among other categories.

“It’s humbling yet exciting to be acknowledged by some of the top experts in the field of education.  It is an honor to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to nurturing, challenging, and inspiring our students to dream,” said Alex Green Principal Dr. Robyn Beard. “Our school community is dedicated, and we work diligently to address all of the individual needs of our students.  Working in this field is hard, so being acknowledged nationally not only validates our work, but it keeps us motivated to continue the work and empower our students to reach their full potential.”

Alex Green is a Design Technology Magnet School. Under this model, educators infuse design technology throughout the core curriculum to help students envision their role in building a better world. Teachers encourage students to ask, imagine, plan, create, improve, and communicate their problem-solving ideas and products.

The school will represent Tennessee among 40 other states with schools receiving the award in November at a ceremony in Orlando Florida.

“We are immensely proud of Alex Green Design Technology Magnet Elementary School for earning the esteemed Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence honor,” said Dr. Adrienne Battle, Director of Metro Schools. “This achievement is not merely a badge but a testament to the innovation, diversity, and academic excellence that have been cultivated at the school. Under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Robyn Beard and the unwavering dedication of the staff, Alex Green has become a beacon of what is possible when a community comes together to elevate the educational experience of every student.”
