As Tennessee’s largest district moves into the second half of the 2022-23 school year, Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is seeking feedback from the community for what the district should prioritize in the 2023-24 school year budget.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take the survey online and answer a series of questions on spending and support for students, parents, and teachers.
“As we develop the 2023-24 school year budget, we want insight from our insiders! What is working at your school or building? What supports and services are meeting the needs of our students and employees? What could be improved upon,” asked the district on the survey website.
The survey is offered in both English and Spanish.
Similar to last year’s survey, the current one focuses on facility improvement, academic and emotional support, and available resources. The district is also seeking input from students and faculty and staff on what areas need more funding and what areas need the least investment.
The survey also places a focus on teachers’ ability to teach students how to read and guidance for parents in helping their children learn to read.
MSCS is additionally planning future committee meetings to discuss the survey and budget priorities.
