Metro Nashville Public Schools seeks community help reviewing new math curriculum

Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is seeking your help to review new mathematics curriculum that students will be utilizing next school year.

MNPS, along with school districts across Tennessee, will be implementing the new curriculum in accordance with Tennessee state standards.

The district formed a committee of teachers to narrow down proposed curriculums based on direction from the Tennessee State Textbook Commission and it’s seeking additional feedback from stakeholders regarding new instructional materials.

Materials under consideration by the district will be displayed for feedback and review at the Metro Nashville Education Association office for educators and community members to examine. All feedback will be carefully reviewed by the MNPS Materials Review Committee in order for them to form their formal recommendation for the district Board of Education.

Upon acceptance of the committee’s recommendation, the school board will deny or choose to adopt the new mathematic materials to be utilized in the 2023-24 school year.

Community members and educators across the district are encouraged to view the materials under consideration at the MNEA office, located at 531 Fairground Ct, Nashville, TN 37211.

These materials will be on display between January 17-21 and January 23-27. Weekday hours for the office are between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Additionally, electronic access to view these materials is available for those unable to visit the office in person.
