Nashville State Community College partners with Amazon for new career program

Amazon’s Career Choice Program has selected Nashville State Community College (NSCC) to be one of their education partners. This means qualifying hourly employees can receive tuition benefits, book assistance, and fee assistance while they work towards an associate degree or a technical certification at the college.

NSCC offers students the opportunity to pursue an associate degree, technical certificate, and workforce programs seven days a week in-person or virtually. The college also provides several resources such as laptops, advising, food assistance and transportation in order to best accommodate the student body.

NSCC’s Vice President of Academic Affairs says the Career Choice Program through Amazon will align with the college’s values of ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

“Amazon’s Career Choice program aligns with Nashville State’s commitment to eliminating inequities in educational attainment and increasing economic mobility,” said Dr. Carol Rothstein. “The College is committed to forming strategic partnerships to provide access while supporting completion and post-completion success for our graduates.”

The program empowers Amazon employees to learn new skills that will help them with their career at the company, or elsewhere. There is no limit to how long the program can be utilized by the employee, as long as that employee is associated with Amazon. This allows those in the program the flexibility that is needed when working and studying.

“We’re looking forward to Nashville State Community College coming on board as an education partner for Career Choice, adding to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees,” said Tammy Thieman, global program lead of Amazon’s Career Choice program. “We’re committed to empowering our employees by providing them with access to the education and training they need to grow their careers, whether that’s with us or elsewhere. We have intentionally created a partner network of third-party educators and employers committed to providing excellent education, job placement resources, and continuous improvements to the experience.”

Amazon’s selection process for third-party educators is rigorous, ensuring each school is focused on helping employees through their educational programs and providing resources for job placement and career success. For those interested in applying for the program, learn more here.
